Dental Researchers Meet with Members of Congress to Advocate for NIH Funding
Advocates for dental research and dental education participated in the 2009 American Association for Dental Research-American Dental Education Association (AADR-ADEA) Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill, April 21-22. Representatives from dental schools visited 36 Members of Congress to advocate for a 10 percent increase in the FY 2010 budget for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR). Other issues included inclusion of oral health care in health care reform and to make needed investments in dental education to ensure a robust, diverse health professions workforce.
