General Session Posters Available Online
The posters that were presented at the 91st
General Session & Exhibition of the International Association for Dental
Research (IADR) are now available online. The IADR General Session took place
March 20-23, 2013, in Seattle, Washington, USA, and was held in conjunction
with the 42nd Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental
Research and the 37th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for
Dental Research. As part of your member benefits, you have complimentary access
to these posters through the IADR members-only website. You will need your
badge ID and name to access the posters in the online scientific program.
Viewing the posters online will provide you with an
opportunity to learn more of the cutting-edge research that was presented at

|Call for Papers for Special Issue in JDR on Clinical Research in Oral Implantology|
The Journal of Dental Research is
excited to announce the publication of a second supplement in 2013 encompassing
areas of clinical research in the dental, oral and craniofacial sciences. This
peer-reviewed supplement will bring emerging contributions in translational
science to clinical application for advances in oral implantology. Papers
should be submitted no later than June 11, 2013.
|Call for Nominations|
Any AADR member may nominate individuals for AADR Vice
President or AADR Representative to the IADR/AADR Publications Committee. Names
of potential candidates must be received by August 2, 2013.
|Can You Serve on a Committee?|
Committees are the backbone of the IADR and each year the Association seeks a wide variety of volunteers, representing as many geographic areas and scientific disciplines as possible, to fill committee vacancies.
|IADR/AADR Call for Photos|
IADR/AADR are encouraging members to submit their lab photos for
consideration in upcoming IADR/AADR marketing and communications pieces. |
|Advocacy Day Recap|
NIDCR Director Martha Somerman presents an NIDCR
update and scientific highlights during the morning session.
On April 17, oral health scientists and students participated in the 2013
American Association for Dental Research- American Dental Education Association
Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill. Members of the associations joined to conduct 84
meetings in House and Senate offices, covering more than 20 states in the
process. The participants carried a message of the need to replace the
March 1 budget sequestration order and increase investments in biomedical
|AADR Selects University of Maryland Student for Gert Quigley Fellowship|
AADR is pleased to announce that Sarah Uehara from the
University of Maryland School of Dentistry has been selected to serve as the
2013-14 Gert Quigley Public Policy Fellow.
|NIH Provides Additional Details on FY13 Reductions|
The NIH has released tables that capture the types of grants that will be cut in FY13—largely resulting from the sequestration order issued on March 1. The document provides details at the overall NIH level as well as for the individual institutes and centers.
|Request for Applications: FaceBase 2|
The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research has issued two
requests for applications for FaceBase 2. The
NIDCR-funded FaceBase Consortium (www.facebase.org) was established in 2009 to advance craniofacial research
by creating comprehensive datasets on craniofacial development and
dysmorphologies and disseminating them to the wider craniofacial research

|DTA Foundation Grant Application Deadline|
The Dental Trade Alliance Foundation is accepting
applications for its 2013 grant program and expects to award seven $25,000
grants. Proposals are due May 31, 2013.
|Dental E-Measures Testing: Call for Proposals|
The Dental Quality Alliance (DQA) is soliciting proposals to test the feasibility, reliability and validity of two e-Measures.
|Call for Nominations: ADA Norton M. Ross Award for Excellence in Clinical Research|
The American Dental
Association (ADA) has issued a call for nominations for the 2014 Norton M. Ross
Award for Excellence in Clinical Research. |
|Strides in Science|
Teresa A. Dolan, D.D.S., M.P.H. is a
professor and dean at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. At the
end of the 2013
academic year, Dolan will leave the University of Florida and begin working as
DENTSPLY's vice president and chief clinical officer. In her new role, Dolan
will provide strategic direction for global DENTSPLY’s professional education
activities and will be actively engaging with businesses to support clinical
initiatives and strategies.

24-25, 2013, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
