Gert Quigley Government Affairs Fellowship Applications are Due by March 20
AADR is accepting applications for the 2015-2016 Gert Quigley Government Affairs Fellowship. The Gert Quigley Public Policy Fellowship provides a unique and exciting learning experience both in Washington, DC and through grassroots efforts at the participants local university or institution. This fellowship is designed to familiarize dental school, Ph.D., or dual degree students with the federal legislative process as it relates to basic and translational dental and craniofacial research, as well as research on the oral health care delivery system. The applicant must be a member of the AADR National Student Research Group and a D.M.D./D.D.S., Ph.D. or a dual degree student.

Call for Papers for Supplement in JDR on Clinical Research Deadline is March 31

Manuscripts may be submitted to the Journal of Dental Research for the publication of a supplement encompassing all areas of clinical research in the dental, oral and craniofacial sciences. 

Call for Papers in JDR Special Issue Deadline is April 30

Manuscripts may be submitted to the Journal of Dental Research for a special issue in the Fall 2015 highlighting the latest developments in the field of craniofacial stem cells. This peer-reviewed special issue will provide an assessment of the current state-of-the-art of the biology of stem cells in craniofacial development and health, as well as their role in the etiology of diseases/conditions affecting craniofacial tissues. The issue will be of interest to all oral health researchers and practitioners.

Investigators with NIH’s The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Research Network discovered genomic differences — with potentially important clinical implications — in head and neck cancers caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.

The University of Washington is now accepting applications for the 2015 Summer Institute in Clinical Dental Research Methods, to be held June 29-August 7, 2015, in Seattle.  

Nominations are Being Accepted for the Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Dental Research

The Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Dental Research is sponsored by the American Dental Association together with Church & Dwight Co., Inc. Established in 1985 and presented every three years, the Award honors individuals who, through basic or clinical research, have contributed to the advancement of the profession of dentistry or to major improvement in the oral health of the public. 

Strides in Science

Dana Graves, D.D.S., D.M.Sc. is the vice dean for scholarship and research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia. There, he is also a professor in the Department of Periodontics and director of the Doctor of Science in Dentistry Program. In addition to research, he practices at the Penn Dental Faculty Practice.
