WHAT’S NEW

Remember to Access the 2015 IADR/AADR/CADR General Session Recordings in the Knowledge Community
Recordings from the 93rd General Session & Exhibition of the International Association for Dental Research are available in the IADR/AADR Knowledge Community. This meeting, which was held in conjunction with the 44th Annual Meeting of the AADR and the 39th Annual Meeting of the CADR, took place March 11-14, 2015, in Boston, Mass., USA. 

The Knowledge Community houses recordings of cutting-edge presentations from IADR and AADR meetings, and at the conclusion of each recorded session a brief quiz may be completed for ADA CERP credit. As part of your membership benefit, remember to take advantage of this premium opportunity to earn continuing education credits and to absorb some of the science that was shared at meetings by logging in to the IADR members-only section and selecting “IADR/AADR Knowledge Community” under “Educational Resources.”

Call for Abstracts and Proposals: 2016 AADR/CADR Annual Meeting


Submit your session proposal or abstract now for the 45th Annual Meeting & Exhibition of the American Association for Dental Research, held in conjunction with the 40th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research. This combined meeting will take place in Los Angeles, Calif., USA, March 16-19, 2016. The AADR/CADR Annual Meeting & Exhibition will provide scientists and researchers throughout the world with the opportunity to present, discuss and critique their investigations.

IADR/AADR Announce Launch of JDR Clinical & Translational Research to Speed Research Into Practice

Last month, IADR/AADR announced the launch of our new publication JDR Clinical & Translational Research in 2016. IADR/AADR's new title, JDR Clinical & Translational Research will focus on publishing original dental, oral, and craniofacial research at the interface between discovery science, and clinical application with the translation of research into healthcare delivery systems at the individual patient, clinical practice, and community levels.

IADR/AADR Seeking Applications for Editor of JDR Clinical & Translational Research

The International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) are seeking an inaugural Editor for JDR Clinical & Translational Research, starting in fall 2015. JDR Clinical & Translational Research is set to begin publication of four issues in 2016.  JDR Clinical & Translational Research will provide an outlet for examination of breakthrough clinical and translational research to improve the oral health of individuals and populations.

The IADR/AADR JDR Ranks #1 in the Two-Year Journal Impact Factor

Last month, IADR/AADR announced that the Journal of Dental Research (JDR) ranks #1 with a two-year Journal Impact Factor of 4.139 in the “Dentistry, Oral Surgery & Medicine” category. This news comes from the 2015 Release of Journal Citation Reports® with "Source: 2014 Web of Science™ Data".

JDR Articles Explore 3D Printing for Oral and Dental Tissue Engineering

IADR/AADR have published a case report on the first application of a 3D printed scaffold for periodontal tissue engineering in a human patient, along with a review of 3D printing for oral and craniofacial tissue engineering. These papers are published in the latest clinical supplement to the Journal of Dental Research, which encompasses all areas of clinical research in the dental, oral and craniofacial sciences, and brings emerging contributions in discovery and translational science to clinical application for the healthcare community.

IADR/AADR Publish Proceedings from IADR Symposium: Oral Health Inequalities in Africa and the Middle-East Region

The International and American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) have published the proceedings from the IADR symposium titled “Oral Health Inequalities in Africa and the Middle-East Region,” which took place June 24, 2014, in Cape Town, South Africa. This symposium was held in conjunction with the 92nd General Session of the IADR. The proceedings are published in the July issue of the IADR/AADR Advances in Dental Research, an E-supplement to the Journal of Dental Research. Eino Honkala, Kuwait University, served as a guest editor of this Advances issue.

Attention Deans and Research Deans: AADR to Offer Academic Institutions Funding to Support a Student Research Day Award

AADR is instituting the AADR Student Research Day Award and encouraging academic institutions involved in dental, oral, and craniofacial research to apply for it. This new award is designed to recognize the best presentation at an academic institution’s research day competition. The award shall be determined by the institution’s judging committee.

Donate for Research

Dental research created a profession. In the early decades of the last century, investments in dental research moved a trade to a profession. From the fluoridation of public water supplies – a crowning public health achievement of the 20th Century – to high-speed handpieces, dental composites and ceramic restorations, periodontal diagnostics and therapeutics, and more biologic approaches to replacing lost tissues, it was the investments in dental research that defined us as a profession.

Strides in Science

Molly Hague is a student at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry, class of 2016. Hague graduated from Drury University, Springfield, Missouri, with a Bachelor's degree in biology.  She earned several accolades while studying at Drury University, including the 2011 Outstanding Senior Woman at Drury University and the 2011 Laura Bond Award, Biology Honors.

Jacques Nör Appointed as Chair of the University of Michigan Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences and Endodontics

AADR member and Journal of Dental Research Associate Editor Jacques Nör has been appointed chair of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences and Endodontics (CRSE). This appointment is effective September 1, 2015. He will succeed AADR member Stephen Bayne.
