Step Up to the Accreditation Virtual Soapbox

To mark the recent commencement of the Accreditation Program's two-year period of experimentation and self-review, AAM is seeking input from the field—your opportunity to help shape the program's future. Visit the Accreditation Virtual Soapbox to share your comments, ideas and answers to BIG questions, such as:

  • Is the program still relevant to you? To the field? How could it be more so?
  • Should there be different levels of accreditation or new, related alternatives?
  • Are the standards and process too hard? Not tough enough?
  • How many museums should be accredited? Why?
  • What else would you like to get out of "your" accreditation program?

All are invited to share their thoughts, from both accredited and non-accredited museums. We seek input from the entire field, including museum staff, trustees, independent professionals, volunteers, vendors and museum association staff. Visit the AAM website to learn more about the Accreditation Program, and expect more feedback venues over the next few years, including a field-wide survey and listening sessions.
