Licensed MFTs Encouraged to Become Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Volunteers
The AAMFT works with the American Red Cross to inform members of volunteer opportunities through the Red Cross. The American Red Cross has asked the AAMFT to inform our members about opportunities to serve as DMH volunteers in the areas impacted by Sandy.

The eligibility criteria to become an American Red Cross DMH volunteer can be found here. Please note that all DMH volunteers must be licensed independent mental health professionals, such as LMFTs, or other professionals as listed in this document. Please note that associates, interns, students, unlicensed MFTs, or others who do not have an independent license are not eligible to be deployed as DMH volunteers.

If you are eligible to serve as an American Red Cross DMH volunteer and can deploy for at least 10 days, please follow the steps in this document for contacting the American Red Cross and signing up for this deployment.

As a Red Cross partner, the AAMFT will continue to update members on deployment opportunities and other information concerning this disaster. Periodic updates on the American Red Cross deployment have been posted on the AAMFT’s social media sites and will continue to be posted on these sites.
