A Message From the President
Michael E. Crane, Director/Assistant General Counsel, Capital One
New-Year’s Mid-Year’s Resolution!
It’s a well-worn tradition at the end of each year to take
stock and make resolutions for the coming year.
Now that we’re at the ½ way point of the year, it’s a good time to take
a look at those old resolutions. How did
you do? If you’re like me, maybe not so
well. If so, all is not lost; this is a
great time to make some new ones – and here are some personal and professional
resolutions that our Chapter can help you with:
Your Network: How well have you tended to your professional network? Many of us haven’t done the best job keeping
up with our old contacts and making new ones – which can be vital in today’s
quickly-changing employment front. If
you’re one of the folks whose networking could use some improvement, coming to
one of the Chapter’s free monthly Meet Your Counterparts is a good place to
start – put the next one on your calendar now.
Your Legal Skills: Are all your legal skills up-to-date (I’m sure I don’t
have to tell you how important that is!)?
If not, it’s a good time to put one of the Chapter’s free Institutes on
Good: Looking to do some good in the world?
As a lawyer, you’ve been trained in a unique set of skills – and our
Chapter partners with Philadelphia VIP and other organizations to offer pro
bono opportunities where you can put those skills to use. Just check the Chapter webpage to see what’s
coming up, or contact one of our Pro Bono Chairs for more information.
to the Legal Community: Speaking of doing good, how about giving back to
the legal community? One great way to
give back is to volunteer to become a Chapter leader. We’re always looking for committee chairs,
Board members, and other volunteers! [If
you’re interested, contact me or and/our President-Elect, Anne Bancroft.]
More Fun! Have you had enough fun in the last six months? If not, the Chapter has you covered there too
– plan on attending our Charity Softball game in July (which is open to
spouses, partners, children and guests), our Fall Gala in November, and our ACC
Team events scattered throughout the year.
Don’t wait until next year to make some resolutions that can
change your life!
Mike Crane, President
