Frances Roesch
Message from Your Board Chair

Dear Fellow Canadian Chapter Members,

It has been a busy month for the Canadian Chapter! The ACHE Chapter Leaders’ Conference took place in Chicago and we were fortunate to have three attendees at this mandatory event. It was a pleasure to spend these days with Vice Chair Todd Stepanuik and Regent Danielle Swerhone, FACHE. We had several plenary sessions together and attended others individually and regrouped to share our learnings. This time together was invaluable as our time together is rarely in person due to geography. Our charge now is to bring back our new knowledge and excitement and share that with the rest of our board and our membership at large.

This excitement has also spread to those who attended the Vancouver Cluster this month. Again, our chapter board was well represented, with our Treasurer Leslie Benecki, FACHE; Director for the Maritimes, Glenn Gale, and our Regent Danielle Swerhone, FACHE, all in attendance. This is the first cluster held in Canada in a number of years and we were so pleased to have this opportunity here for our members to gather face-to-face credits in Canada. It was also an excellent chance for nonmembers to see the quality of education ACHE offers.

For a different way to get involved: If you have an interest in serving on a committee for our chapter or for ACHE national, please let me know. We have openings on several of our chapter committees – no experience needed, just a willing spirit and a bit of time. Our national office has issued a call for committee participation and I will gladly review the options with you if you would like more information and put your name forward. It’s a wonderful way to get more out of your membership and to extend both your experience and your network. The deadline for this submission to national is November 1, 2018, and for chapter committees, there is always a seat open!

Take a chance, get involved, and share your time and talents with us, your fellow members of the Canadian Chapter. We can’t wait to learn from you.

Frances C. Roesch, M.H.A., FACHE, is Chair of the Canadian Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Executive Director at Queen Square Doctors, a large family practice group in Brampton, Ontario.
