Message from the President - Fall 2011
Keith Lundquist, FACHE

Is Now the Time for You to (finally) Become an ACHE Fellow?

Maybe you’re one of the almost 100 of our Central Florida chapter members who are eligible to become board certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of ACHE. If so, now is the time to make a tangible commitment to yourself and your future professional development to take the easy steps to become board certified and attain Fellow status.

Eligibility Requirements to apply to take the ACHE Board of Governors Exam are:

  • Be a member of the ACHE.

  • Master’s or other post-baccalaureate degree.

  • Current healthcare management position and at least two years of healthcare management experience.

If you’re qualified and you’re ready for the big “C” word (Commitment), here’s what you do:

1. If you haven’t already done so, Download an FACHE application (PDF) to initiate the process of becoming a Fellow;  or, Apply online now.

2.  Sign up to take the upcoming ACHE Fellows Advancement Preparation Course sponsored by our chapter to be held Friday, October 7 in the Orlando area.  For more information or to register by clicking: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/2175809906. The deadline to register is Monday, October 3. So don’t delay. There is a nominal fee that includes lunch. What a deal!

Join your fellow colleagues to learn from Central Florida faculty members about the exam and brush up on content areas. You won’t be taking the exam that day, rather you will be learning more about the exam itself and hearing from others how to prepare and successfully take the exam in the future. Of course, you’ll probably want to make it the near future.

I hope to see you at the upcoming annual prep course on October 7.

One a related membership note, October is our annual Central Florida chapter “New Member Month.” New members or re-instated members who join during October receive credit for one free upcoming educational program hosted by our chapter within the next 12 months. So, if you know of someone who might be interested in joining our chapter, send them a quick note and suggest they check us out. Simply click on this link http://www.ache.org/mbership/tell.cfm and fill in an on-line form to “Tell a Colleague about ACHE.” It’s that simple.
