|Message from the President - Summer 2014|
It’s summer time, a time for
families and friends to reconnect and take a pause from our fast-paced world.
Yes, that world of healthcare, no matter what market you compete in, the fast
increasing trends towards a value-based world are all around us. Commercial
payers taking queues from CMS, hospital systems managing risk, and providers
having to meet quality measures for that same annual increase or shared
In the recent ACHE Healthcare
Executive magazine, May / June issue, Ellen L. May stated, “Until recently,
healthcare financial planning has typically been a straightforward endeavor.
The clear connection between volume and revenue has allowed providers to make
projections with some degree of certainty. But during the next 10 years, that
fundamental assumptions will be overturned”.
How do we prepare?
ACHE is committed with a crystal
vision of their four cornerstone values of integrity, long-life learning,
diversity, and leadership. Focusing on learning, your local chapter has some
essential opportunities to assist in the journey:
Clinical Leadership Development - July 17th, 2014
The Path to EHR Implementation: Strategies for
- October 16th, 2014
State and Federal Health Reform: The Past,
Present and Future - November 13th, 2014
So, those three local programs are foundational to the value-based
journey – consider marking your calendars. In May’s article, she quotes, Bob
Edmondson, FACHE from Carroll Hospital Center stating, “Providers have to
understand that it’s a long-term strategy investment – the pay is not there in
the short-term. But our organization has reaped positive results in the three
years since we implemented the program”. Mr. Edmondson is referring to their
journey to a value-based world. Subsequently, whether its physician leadership,
grasping the data to create new models of coordinated care or the future of
health reform – AHCE of Central Florida will be right beside you.
Therefore, with a lot going on and more to come, our desire
to continue the journey towards the chapter’s 2015 Vision of Driving Awareness,
Maintaining Vitality, and Increasing Visibility and supporting your
organization’s value-based strategies.
Come join us this year – you cannot beat the value,
fellowship or timely education from thought-leaders in local and national healthcare
forums - more information at www.centralfl.ache.org.
