As we approach the end of Summer and head towards back to school days, we continue to build on the momentum established by your local ACHE of Central Florida Chapter
In keeping with the established trend of informative and interesting events, the Programs Committee, led by Donny Abraham, RN, FACHE, continues to deliver the most up to date topics that affect our healthcare industry. Thus, far we have heard from speakers on topics including: Emergency Preparedness, Ethical Challenges in Healthcare, The State of Healthcare in Florida, Healthcare Brand and Trust, Telemedicine in Healthcare Delivery Systems, MACRA and the Public Reporting System, Quality Management in Healthcare, Population Health, and many others. Your Central Florida Chapter is offering 16 events this year, 8 of which are valuable F2F credits needed for Fellow Certification or recertification. We also took the “show on the road” and traveled to Halifax Health for our event titled Diversity and Inclusion.
Our membership continues to grow and members continue to advance to FELLOW within our Central Florida Chapter. Attendance at our monthly events continues to surpass our stated goal of 50 members/meeting. With nearly 600 members on our roster, we can easily attain, sustain and surpass this goal. New members are encouraged to reach out to any of the Directors on our Board or directly to members of the Executive Committee. Check out our newly revamped website for the contact info at http://centralfl.ache.org
Several members attended ACHE National Chapter Leaders Conference recently in Chicago. At that meeting, aside from numerous intriguing sessions, our Chapter was again recognized for the great work and services we offer in your Central Florida Chapter.
In the last Quarter, we welcomed two new Members to our CF-ACHE Board of Directors. First, Maya Jascot was voted in as Diversity and Inclusion Chair and has already made an amazing impact. Maya is an Account Executive with GE Medical and lives in the Orlando Area. We also added Nate Torres to our Board as Chairman of our Sponsorship Committee. Nate is employed by Johnson and Johnson as Director of Strategic Accounts. Nate is already busy with plans promoting Sponsorship for our 3rd Annual Gala and Awards Dinner which this year will be held at the Renaissance Orlando at Sea World on January 20, 2018. The theme for this year’s event is Healthcare through the Decades, highlighting Healthcare in the Central Florida region from the 1950s to current day. Save the date as it promises to be an exciting event as we honor several fellow healthcare professionals from the area.
Lastly, I would encourage you to mark your calendars for the FHA / ACHE Annual Business Meeting and Awards Dinner on October 18, 2017. Your Central Florida Chapter in collaboration with the North Florida and South Florida Chapters are sponsoring a FACHE Board of Governors Exam review session during the FHA conference. This is an excellent opportunity to get a thorough review before sitting for the exam. Fliers about the review course have been published and for more information, please contact any of the Board members.
See you at a meeting soon,
Rick E. Smith, FACHE
President, Central Florida Chapter ACHE
