Changes to Category I Education Requirements

At its November 2010 meeting, the Board of Governors revised the requirements associated with earning the FACHE® credential and for recertification to address the need for face-to-face education, increase the required continuing education credits and, ultimately, strengthen the credential.

The Board of Governors appreciates the thoughtful comments of Regents and chapter leaders during the process of gathering feedback on proposed changes to the definition of Category I (ACHE education) credit over the past few months. Be assured that your comments were carefully considered along with other information to arrive at a decision that the Board is convinced is in the long-term interests of ACHE and its affiliates.

The detailed decision and rationale are contained in the attached document, “Strengthening the Value of Fellowship: A Learning Community of Peers,” and its companion document, “Changes in FACHE Continuing Education Requirements: Q & A.” These were written to communicate the Board’s decision and answer questions that we believe you and affiliates will have regarding this decision.

If you have questions regarding this decision and its implementation, please feel free to contact your chapter's regional director at ACHE.
