ACHE’s Executive Vice President/COO Deborah J. Bowen, FACHE, CAE, has accepted the position of ACHE President/CEO. The Board of Governors conducted a national search for the position, retaining executive search firm Spencer Stuart and appointing a five-person Search Committee. The Search Committee was composed of the three Chairman Officers: Gayle L. Capozzalo, FACHE; Diana L. Smalley, FACHE; and Rulon F. Stacey, PhD, FACHE; as well as Valerie Powell-Stafford, FACHE, Regent-at-Large; and Eric Briesemeister, FACHE, president of the Iowa Association of Healthcare Leaders. On Dec. 18, the Board of Governors unanimously endorsed the Search Committee’s recommendation to offer the position to Deborah Bowen.

Capozzalo, FACHE, ACHE Board Chairman and executive vice president, Strategy & System Development, of Yale New Haven Health System in New Haven, Conn., in a press release. “We are delighted that Deborah Bowen, ACHE’s chief operating officer, accepted the position of president and CEO. Deborah showed us that she has the vision and capability to lead our organization in this time of significant change. We are confident that, with Deborah as president, ACHE will build upon its past successes and make the changes required to remain the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.”
