A Message from Our President
Kimberly A. Lumia, MSN, MBA, RN, FACHE

Fellow CTAHE Members, Sponsors and Colleagues,

It’s hard to believe that we are getting ready to say goodbye to 2019 and ring in the New Year 2020!  CTAHE has had a busy and successful 2019.  We attended Chapter Leaders at ACHE in Chicago back in September, and our last two events of the year, the Oktoberfest Networking & Student Welcome Back Event and the State of the State of Connecticut Healthcare Event both saw record breaking attendance numbers and fostered incredible evenings of connections and educational offerings! I would like to send my congratulations along to our newest 4 Fellows whom passed the Board of Governor’s Examination and achieved the FACHE designation. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Jim Castellone, Karen Buck, Noelle Linke and Kristen Murray!

I want to thank the board members, officers and students that were able to attend the Strategic Planning Session on 11/18/19 as we continue to develop the Strategic Plan for 2019 through 2022.  Our focus in 2020 is to continually engage our Students, Early Careerists, New Members, Tenured Members and Providers.  We look forward to sharing how we will continue to strategically grow and develop CTAHE over the next year with our membership!

Some of the new initiatives under consideration is to expand our programs for our Early Careerists through networking or a focus group for those members.  For our Physician members in 2020, we will look to plan a program led and facilitated by our Physicians in hopes of starting a Physician and provider-based committee within the Chapter.  I am very excited to share that in 2020 we will be planning a multi-disciplinary Fall Conference to address and engage all our diverse membership with the potential to engage our other professional partners in the state and beyond CT.  Please stay tuned for the save the date and more details.

We also continue to focus upon meaningful engagement and professional growth with our students at Fairfield University, Quinnipiac University, University of New Haven, University of Connecticut, Sacred Heart and Yale University.  I am delighted to welcome our new Co-Chair Leslie Zucker, FACHE, to the Education Network. She joins Co-Chair Fred Boateng who has been facilitating several visits to our Universities along with our Regent, Denise Fiore, FACHE.  I am enjoying working with our Student Board Liaisons: Jonathan Becker, Ryan Cuttitta, Camisha Taylor & Garrett Newsom. Thank you all for your time and engagement with our Chapter!

The committees of CTAHE have been very busy this past quarter focused upon continued excellence in the chapter and there is lots to celebrate as we have exceeded our attendee index hours, membership goals and face to face education hours again for 2019!   The Board also has a commitment to evolve as evidenced by completing our annual board evaluation, so that we can continue to improve and grow CTAHE and the offerings for our members.  The Chapter has been recognized again by ACHE for member satisfaction.

I’m thrilled to share that our Events Calendar for 2020 is already full and planned out! The first program of 2020 will also be our first Webinar! Entitled, “When Does Data Evolve to AI?”, it will be live broadcasted on January 23rd, 2020, 9:00 am – 10:00 ampresented by Dr. Mary Cooper, Chief Quality Officer & SVP, Clinical Services for CT Hospital Association. In February the Women’s Forum will be hosting a Networking Workshop: “Elevate Yourself” -Refine Your Elevator Pitch, on Thursday the 13th at the Library Wine Bar and Bistro in Wallingford and in March we will host an Educational Networking Event at Waterbury Hospital’s new Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine on Thursday the 5th.

ACHE’s Annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership is being held March 23rd – 26th, 2020 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. We hope that you will consider attending ACHE’s signature event and while in Chicago join CTAHE at our member meet-up at Flight Club Social Darts on Monday, March 24th from 6:00 – 10:00 pm for food, fun and networking!  This year’s Congress theme is “Connected, Inspired & Empowered” we hope to see you there!  To our students, there is an opportunity to serve as a program assistant and there are scholarship opportunities available through our Chapter.  We also already have save the dates up for our 5th Annual Golf Outing which will be held on Tuesday, May 26th at Tunxis Country Club and our Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 18th at the Aqua Turf.

Wishing you and yours a very happy and merry holiday season and a happy, healthy and most of all a prosperous New Year!

Kim
