2018 Day of Service
Submitted By: Kriss Anne Carlstrom, Scholarship Committee & Day-of-Service Coordinator

Greater Charlotte Healthcare Executives Group has scheduled their next day-of-service for Saturday February 3, 2018 from 8:30am to Noon at Second Harvest Food Bank of the Metrolina.(SHFB) Activities will include: sorting, inspecting, boxing, stocking food, keeping the warehouse clean by moving pallets, dusting, and sweeping. This is a family-friendly event, but volunteers who are children need to be age six (6) or older.

The past five (5) years, GCHEG has coordinated a day-of-service in the fall. However, due to the success of our event last year at SHFB, we are moving this event to winter at the request of SHFB's Volunteer Director, Nancy Hagerman, SHFB's greatest need for support is during the first quarter of the year. Conversely, several local schools and civic organizations provide SHFB with plenty of volunteers from September through New Year.

GCHEG initiated it's Day-of-Service to provide our members a unique way to network while giving back to our community. Additionally, to become a FACHE, members are required to participate in two (2) healthcare-related activities and two (2) community/civic activities during the past three (3) year period. Examples of healthcare activities may include attending/participating in state hospital association meetings, voluntary health agency involvement, ACHE volunteer activity such as chapter meetings, being a moderator or panelist during a GCHEG educational event, or other healthcare-related commitments. Community/civic activities may include participation in charitable organizations, religious organizations, school boards, community boards or other related activities. These activities can be one-time events or short-term commitments.

We have forty (40) spots reserved for 2/3/18. The link to sign up is:

Each person will need to log in using this code and complete their profile. If a family will be joining you, each family member will need to complete a profile. But, if you are using the same email, they will be connected as a family. Confirmation and reminder emails will be sent that will list what to wear, directions, and SHFB's policies. Once a profile has been completed, the next time you volunteer at SHFB, you will not need to do it again.
