Greetings From Chapter President
Nehemie Georges Owen, MHA, FACHE

Greetings to my fellow ACHE/GCHEG members and those of you interested in learning more about our organization and chapter.

I don’t know about you but summer is my favorite time of year. From BBQs/cookouts to beach trips and pool parties- there is so much to do outdoors. Summer is quickly approaching and your chapter has been very busy working on events just for you.

We have a great partnership with the Triangle Healthcare Executives Forum (THEF) to offer a BOG exam review webinar to members of both of our chapters. This 12-week series will commence on June 28.  If you did not get a chance to sign up for this study program, don’t worry we will be planning another BOG exam prep course in the fall.

We are excited that the first round of Health Equity Impact Circles was a success and look forward to offering this dialogue series again. You can learn more about them in the article by Nikki Nissen, Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion committee in this newsletter. This is a great way to channel your interest in improving the health of our communities through dialogue with impassioned like-minded individuals. Please look out for more information on the fall series in a few months.

Nothing says summer like a night out at the ball park enjoying hot dogs, refreshments and a good old game of baseball. Join us for our summer networking social at the BB&T ballpark. We are offering this event at a deeply discounted rate to our chapter members. This was a very popular outing last year and we look forward to hanging out with our members again at this fun filled event.

As the summer winds down we will be planning our signature event- the GCHEG annual dinner. Our educational topic, Achieving the Triple Aim in Health, will feature senior leaders and experts in the field and you’ll want to be there to hear what they have to say. We will be recognizing the contributions of several of our members including our first ever Equity of Care Physician award. Nominations are currently open so please visit to submit your nomination for a physician leader or colleague that exemplifies diversity & inclusion by promoting equity of care in their practice.

Last but certainly not least, congratulations to fellow chapter members, Tracy Pryor and Jhaymee Wilson-Tynan. Both Tracy and Jhaymee are 2018 cohort participants in the Executive Program, presented by ACHE. You can read more about their first seminar experience in this newsletter.

There are several ways to connect with ACHE and as your local chapter we are happy to help you get involved. Please feel free to reach out to a board member or me to get plugged in. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event. Enjoy your summer!

About Me

I joined ACHE as a student member while in graduate school at Virginia Commonwealth University. Upon pursuing my Master of Health Administration with VCU I moved to Charlotte, NC in 2006 to complete my Administrative Residency at Carolinas Medical Center-Mercy. During this time, I occasionally attended a few GCHEG events while being involved in other community service and nonprofit board work. In 2011, I was asked to participate in a panel discussion for GCHEG and ever since then have remain committed to the chapter and board. I served on the Education Committee, Treasurer-Elect, Treasurer, President-Elect and currently as President of the chapter.  It is an honor and a privilege to serve and be part of such as engaging chapter. I am currently an Assistant Vice President in Human Resources at Atrium Health. My husband, Nehemiah, and I have a two-year-old son, Elijah, and recently welcomed a new baby boy in April. We enjoy spending time as a family outdoors, traveling, playing golf or simply hosting friends and family for dinner. I look forward to connecting at an upcoming event.
