Message from the Chapter President
Darlena Chadwick, BSN, MSN, FACHE

Aloha Everyone,

We had the very successful cluster meeting here in Hawaii offering a great networking and educational session.  It also offered face to face credit hours here in Hawaii.  The sessions were great and presented a future look into healthcare leadership and hospital-physician relationships.  Both sessions were well-attended.  It was great to see how many members of all levels showed up for this event.  We are also very pleased to have awarded seven individuals with a $1,000 scholarship.  These individuals are seeking fellowship or renewing fellowship.

We need to take some time to thank our wonderful sponsors.  Without the money donated we could not offer these scholarships to deserving individuals here in our local chapter.  THANK YOU SPONSORS!!

I had mentioned we opened dialog with the University Of Hawaii Shidler School Of Business for co-developing a MBA in Healthcare Management degree/concentration to satisfy the unique market needs of our community.  We are so pleased to report we have six students that have signed up and starting classes.  We are on our way with a great collaboration with the University to develop our future healthcare leaders.

I also want to thank and congratulate Gidget Ruscetta, our incoming President, and wish her a grand time at the leadership conference in Chicago this month.  LTC Hugh McLean, Deputy Commander for Administration at Tripler Army Medical Center, has graciously accepted the Director of Education Committee so congratulations and thank you.  With Gidget moving to incoming President the Chapter will have an opening on the Newsletter Committee and the Treasurer position. We still have a need for volunteers for newsletter, sponsorship, and education committee. This is an excellent time to get involved in our chapter.

We are very proud of our outstanding newsletter.  We hope you are enjoying it and we welcome ideas for articles and feedback from you. Thanks to all of you for your continuing support and participation.  Please take advantage of our educational offerings and don’t hesitate to let us know how we can be of service to you. Your voice is important!

Respectfully,

Darlena Chadwick, BSN, MSN, FACHE
