President's Message
Jeffrey P. Egnatovich, MBA, RN

My name is Jeffrey Egnatovich and I am proud to begin serving as President of ACHENJ. I am a member of the Hackensack Meridian Health family and the Caldwell University Healthcare Administration program. Eight years ago a colleague recommended I join ACHENJ to increase my educational and networking opportunities as a healthcare leader and I have been an active member ever since. I was encouraged to pursue leadership positions within ACHENJ that helped me grow as a leader and contribute to the chapter. Serving in these positions have been invaluable experiences to me both personally and professionally. I look forward to serving as chapter President along with an exceptionally talented board.

The 2017-2018 governing board for ACHENJ:

Immediate Past President:                   Céu Cirne-Neves, FACHE - RWJ Barnabas
President-Elect:                                  Alex Puma - RWJ Barnabas
First Member at Large:                        Paula A. Gutierrez - NJ Sharing Network
Second Member at Large:                    Joe Wilkins, FACHE - Atlantic Health System
Secretary:                                          Michael Pizzano - Kindred Healthcare
Treasurer:                                          Bruce Keele - Janssen Pharmaceuticals
Membership Chair:                              Maria Miranda, FACHE - Bessler Consulting
Regent                                               Michael McDonough FACHE - Rutgers University

In 2017 the membership committee launched two new initiatives. The ACHENJ Cares Team was created to give members an opportunity to connect while providing a service to the community. The team participated in the 2017 NJ Aids Walk in May which raised $850. The second initiative is the “New Member Meet & Greet” which will be held several times throughout the year. In May, Saint Barnabas Medical Center hosted the first “Meet & Greet” which proved to be a success. These events gave new members a chance to network with more senior members and learn about chapter education and opportunities.

To support the continuing education needs of its members, ACHENJ has partnered with the state’s premier healthcare associations to develop, deliver, and evaluate a full roster of face-to-face and qualified education programs. Led by a diverse committee of individuals that consist of members of ACHENJ, the New Jersey Hospital Association, the New Jersey Medical Group Management Association, and the Organization of Nurse Leaders of New Jersey, the chapter has significantly increased access to the credits and knowledge required for advancement and recertification of fellowship in ACHE. As a result, ACHENJ and its partners have recorded more education and networking hours in 2017 than in the past four calendar years combined. We fully expect this performance to earn the chapter its first national award in over five years.  The chapter has since been approached for a feature article on chapter education in Healthcare Executive, the official magazine of ACHE.

The accomplishments I have mentioned could not have been possible without the hard work and talent of the many individuals who take part as committee members and leaders. I would like to thank every one of them for the countless hours they have contributed to our chapter’s success and look forward to working with them over the next year.

I would like to thank Céu Cerne-Neves, our outgoing president, for all of her contributions during her tenure as president. Céu has consistently strived for excellence within the chapter and supported all board and committee members in their roles. Over the past year, Céu and I have spoken every Friday evening to discuss happenings within the chapter and to help prepare me for my upcoming term as president. Céu’s support to me and the chapter has been invaluable. And I cannot thank her enough.

I would also like to thank Nancy DiLiegro for her service as chapter Regent. Nancy has been a great supporter of the chapter and now serves as Governor for the region. Her knowledge, experience, and dedication to ACHENJ has helped bring many positive changes and contributions to the chapter. I have no doubt that during her tenure as Governor Nancy will provide the region with new opportunities and growth.

Please visit our website for upcoming events and educational opportunities. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please contact me at or at (855) 922-4365 x700.

Best regards,
Jeffrey P. Egnatovich, MBA, RN
