Message from the President
Dear Chapter Members:

Celebrating the holiday season, friends, and professional colleagues, presents all of us with an opportunity to reflect on our healthcare contributions to the communities we serve.

The 2017 Annual Holiday Party at the Huntley Taverne in Summit was a huge success. We were sold out (and then some) in a room filled with members ranging from students to senior leaders. All of our attendees had an opportunity to network during an outstanding luncheon. The membership committee collected new unwrapped toys for The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. The response from our membership was overwhelming.

On December 2nd, ACHENJ conducted it’s first ACHE Board of Governor’s (BOG) exam review course. This pilot was held at Rutgers University, New Brunswick campus. The program was prepared and delivered by our Regent, Dr. Michael McDonough. The program used sample questions from the ACHE BOG Exam in a format reflective of the TV gameshow Jeopardy. Questions from each of the ten modules were used during this program to better prepare the candidates for their upcoming exam. Dr. McDonough and members of the board are currently reviewing the program and look forward to presenting it twice in 2018.

Another new chapter initiative will be “Breakfast with a President”. This event is designed for early and mid-level careerists. It will provide an opportunity for these careerists to participate in a Q&A discussion on an assigned topic with a hospital President. The first event is scheduled for January 25th at Trinitas Regional Medical Center with Gary Horan, Hospital President. Any early or mid-level career members wishing to attend this event should contact the membership committee at membership@achenj.com.

Hackensack Meridian Health has agreed to host the 2018 ACHENJ annual meeting at their new medical school. The medical school, in cooperation with Seton Hall University, is slated to start it’s very first cohort of students in July 2018. Bob Garrett, Hackensack Meridian Co-CEO, will be the keynote speaker at this event. The chapter is extremely fortunate to have this event held in this newly remodeled state-of-the-art medical education facility. Additional details will be sent to the chapter after the first of the year.

On behalf of the ACHENJ Board, we wish you and yours a happy and safe holiday season and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
