NNEAHE held its Annual Meeting on November 14 and 15 at the Woodstock Inn in Woodstock, Vermont.  Our second visit to Vermont in this classic New England location met the high expectations we had experienced last year.  During the two days over one hundred of your colleagues met to share educational and networking opportunities.  Ten (10) business partners sponsored the event and contributed to the experience.

The two-day event commenced with an ACHE On-Location Program, a very timely topic, “Preparing to Live on Medicare Rates; A Margin Improvement Planning Program.”  As in the past the event was sold out; ACHE does cap attendance at On-Location Programs to assure the quality of its product and participant interaction.  NNEAHE offers these On-Location Programs at a discount, minimizing travel expenses and providing the opportunity to engage with your Northern New England colleagues.  Look for the save the date announcement and topic for our May event.

Friday’s Annual Meeting was highlighted by nationally recognized leadership and motivational speaker, Norm Bosio, “A Prescription to Stay Afloat Without Getting Wet.”  The Board stepped outside the comfort zone on this session and the audience was ostensibly engaged and pleased.  Norm provided an engaging and interactive forum on sustaining and inspiring passion and excellence in delivering healthcare services.  It is about people, caring and empathy!

Norm provided a great lead into our panel discussions, Integrating the Principles of Patient Centered Care, led by Susan Frampton, President of PlaneTree, thought leaders in this arena.  In the afternoon, the panel on Improving the Health Status of our Community moved to the broader focus, where the ACO movement is taking us.

Overall a collegial, relaxed and stimulating environment provided up to 9.0 ACHE Face-to-Face Credits!  The short business meeting highlighted the positive financial position of NNEAHE, and the Board’s commitment to scholarship to both aspiring young careerists at UNH and Champlain University, as well as ACHE Regent Awards presented by Regents to Dawn LeBaron (VT), Warren West (NH) and Gerry Vicenzi (ME).

The Board of NNEAHE is busy planning next year’s events and will meet in mid-January for an Annual Strategic Planning Session.  Your thoughts are welcome.

Best wishes to all in the Holiday Season!
