Message from Your ACHE Regent
Fall is a busy time. Back to school and college. Vacations end and everyone is back to work and the fall meeting schedule ramps up. On September 26 and 27 I attended my first Chapter Leaders Conference as the Regent for Maine. This conference has in attendance all of the Leaders, Regents, Governance and Leadership of ACHE. It was quite an impressive group.
The opening session and luncheon focused on the work of the credentialing task force and their recommendations to the ACHE Board for changes in the FACHE credential. I believe you should have all seen your feedback email in regards to their work by now. It also provided an overview of the annual review of the Strategic Plan. It was pointed out that this was an annual review of the current plan and that in 2017, ACHE would be doing a “deeper dive” and entering an in depth planning process.
At the District One leaders’ breakout group, we reviewed the performance of our individual chapters. ACHE measures each chapter on metrics such as amount of Face-to-Face credits offered, completion of Board manuals, completion of annual plans and others. I was proud to note that our chapter, Northern New England Association of Healthcare Executives, had not only completed all metrics, but had exceeded the face-to-face education requirement! Pretty impressive for a smaller and geographically dispersed chapter. I know we owe that to tireless and dedicated leadership. Thank you Karen F. Clements, RN, FACHE and others!
Last week was the NNEAHE annual meeting in Stowe, Vermont. The keynote speaker was Mary-Ellen Piche, FACHE who did a great presentation on the Patient Experience worth 6 Face-to-Face credits! The next day we had “Sick Girl Speaks”, our respective State legislative updates and an ACHE update with Charles D. Stokes, FACHE. At the business meeting, Kevin W. Donovan, FACHE was introduced as the next President of the Chapter. He will assume office on Jan. 1, 2017. Congratulations to Kevin!
Mark your calendars. Next year the annual meeting will be held in Maine! It would be great to have a wonderful showing from the host State! November 2 and 3, 2017 at the Cliff House in Ogunquit! That is all for now. Have a wonderful Holiday Season!
Marie Vienneau, FACHE
Regent for Maine
