Message from Your ACHE Regent
As your new Regent for Vermont, I had the opportunity to attend the 2017 ACHE Congress and New Regent Orientation as well as the new Fellows Convocation in Chicago last month. Personally, I had rarely attended Congress since my own Fellowship ceremony many years ago but I found these several days truly rewarding for multiple reasons. First, reconnecting with old friends who I haven’t seen in a long time is always great and sharing memories and stories of our challenging profession is good for our psyche! Second, meeting so many energetic individuals just starting their healthcare management careers gives me great hope for our profession as we enter incredibly challenging times. Third, the learning experience from both formal sessions and “side-bar” discussions helps me to be a better CEO. I encourage you to take advantage of ACHE and NNEAHE conferences and know that you will experience similar rewards.
From the Vermont ACHE membership perspective, we have 70 ACHE members comprised of 17 Fellows, 9 Lifetime Fellows, 43 Members and 1 Student. I think we can do better! We need to encourage our peers and fellow managers to further their commitment to our profession by joining ACHE as well as working to advance membership status. I ask each member to recruit a new member and continue our ACHE growth in Vermont. Please email me with your suggestions to reach this goal!
As Vermont leads the nation in many healthcare indices, we need to lead our profession and encourage the next generation to continue our work in reforming our healthcare system. I look forward to representing you in your own ACHE advancement and how ACHE can assist you in your journey.
Enjoy our Vermont Spring! Steve
