Message From The STC ACHE President
Karla Krueger-Strawn, MHA

On March 21-24, 2011, ACHE held its annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Chicago.  This year’s Congress “Forward Together” focused on addressing the changes in healthcare.  The Congress was a wonderful opportunity for ACHE affiliates to receive timely education on the issues and challenges facing healthcare leaders, reconnect with colleagues, and share ideas and information.

ACHE and the South Texas Chapter understands that in today’s economy, not all ACHE affiliates, or their organizations can pay the cost of travel and tuition needed to attend Congress.  ACHE has added a new feature called Congress Express, where affiliates can attend on Wednesday and Thursday only and still receive 12 hours of Category I  educational credit for a reduced price.  The South Texas Chapter-ACHE recognized and supported Congress Express by offering three (3) scholarships for student members that could be used to cover the cost of their registration fee for ACHE Congress.
In addition, the STC-ACHE provides its membership six Category I credit hours each year
through local programming. The first 2011 STC ACHE educational event was the annual Healthcare Landscape.  This full day event was attended by more than 350 participants who received 1.5 Category I hours and 6 Category II hours.  The STC-ACHE is also planning educational events on Friday, April 29, Saturday, July 30, and Friday, October 28. Please check the Chapter’s website for more information on these events.

STC-ACHE understands the importance of bringing ACHE education to its members in a way that is convenient and affordable.  In 2011, STC-ACHE will continue to provide close-to-home educational opportunities to our local healthcare leaders.  Many of the issues and challenges facing healthcare leaders are local, so the education should be local too!
