President's Message Winter 2017
CAPT Lynn Downs, PhD, FACHE, President, STC-ACHE

Welcome to 2017 and I am privileged to help lead our chapter as we continue to excel and grow in 2017.  We have a busy year ahead of us with lots of exciting educational, volunteer and social activities planned for our members.  Many of these ideas were developed at the board of director’s strategic off-site held in December 2016.  This gave us the opportunity to reflect on what we did in 2016 and see where we want to strategically move forward for 2017.

I hope you were able to attend and enjoy the South Texas Joint Health Care Annual Healthcare Landscape 2017, sponsored by local affiliates of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Healthcare Financial Management Association and Greater San Antonio Hospital Council. This event was attended by almost 300 health care executives from our area.  We had an outstanding key note address by VADM Raquel C. Bono, Director Defense Health Agency where she discussed many aspects of Military Medicine in 2017 with opportunities for greater civilian – military integration.  The STC ACHE continues to grow our healthcare community relationships for program excellence.

At this year's Congress on Healthcare Leadership, I will have the distinct pleasure of formally accepting the 2016 ACHE Award of Chapter Distinction for Chapter Merit & Sustained Chapter Performance Awards.

We have many great events planned for the upcoming year.  Please go to our web site at stc.ache.org to find all the specifics on the many upcoming events. If you would like to get involved in the chapter through service on one of the committees, please email me at lynntdowns@yahoo.com.

I look forward to working with everyone on this dynamic and changing landscape in South Texas healthcare.

Lynn Downs, PhD, FACHE

President, STC-ACHE
