President's Message Spring 2017
CAPT Lynn Downs, PhD, FACHE, President, STC-ACHE

It’s been an amazing 6 months.  I find it hard to believe I am halfway through my tenure as chapter president. The next 6 months will bring even more exciting opportunities and shared experiences as we expand our program offerings and venture into new partnerships.

This first half of the year has been filled with two great educational events, three volunteer opportunities and five board meetings.  I hope you were able to attend some if not all of these events and gained some nuggets of information along the way.  If you missed any of these opportunities, don’t worry; we have much more coming up the second half of the year.  All of our events are listed on the chapter website stc.ache.org

During April, our Communications team mailed 1200 “save the date cards”. When member addresses were pulled from the National ACHE list, less than half were validated by UPSP.  If you did not receive your “save the date” card in the mail or via email last month, please go to ache.org and update your mailing and email address to ensure you are getting all the latest information about what is going on with the local chapter.

Our annual chapter survey was emailed to members last month.  As always, your chapter is here to serve you and provide the necessary resources you need to be successful.  One of the ways we capture the needs assessment is via the annual chapter survey.  This information is critical for our long-range program planning.       You should have received this survey in your email.  Thus another important reason to ensure your information is accurate so you can find out what is going on with ACHE and provide feedback to ACHE regarding your chapter activities.

There is lots of good information links both on the local chapter and corporate ACHE website; to include information on career transitions and advancements, career development resources, and other educational and training opportunities offered by the college.  Some of these unique offerings include the Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Program, the Executive Resource Center, Career Edge, and Job Center. If you have not been on the ACHE web site in a while, you owe it to yourself to go see what is new that can help give you that extra boost in your career.
