Message from the President|
Kyle Dorsey, THEF President
Happy Holidays! It is hard to believe how quickly this year is coming to a close. Starting in January, THEF will welcome a new board and begin a new fiscal year. As the year comes to an end, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the Board members for their leadership over the past year and half. This team has done a phenomenal job getting the chapter back on its feet.
Over the last year, THEF has hosted:
6 Face-to-Face Educational Programs
1 Qualified Educational Program
2 Networking Events
3 Board of Governors Exam Study Sessions
For a total of:
18.5 Hours of Networking
14.5 Hours of Education
This activity resulted in over 600 members and guests who joined us to learn and network this year! (See our recap of 2012 events.)
On the chapter’s last Member Needs Survey, those who took the survey shared that they are more familiar and satisfied with the chapter now than in the previous 5 years. It is the chapter’s goal to continue on this path of improvement by continuing offer valuable educational and networking opportunities and growing membership through engagement and advancement.
To help the Chapter continue to grow and diversify its membership, THEF submitted an application for the 2013 ACHE Innovation Grant. If THEF is chosen as a winner, it will use the money to support a “Plus One” event with the following goals:
- The chapter will encourage its current members to engage prospective members (early careerists) and invite them to attend an exclusive ACHE-sponsored Face-to-Face education event (“Plus One”). One discounted ticket price will provide two tickets, the latter of which is to be used by a non-ACHE member.
- Further, if the prospective member joins ACHE within 30 days of the chapter-sponsored event, we will provide him/her with a $50 scholarship, which will help cover the annual membership fee.
- Finally, if a Face-to-Face education event presenter or panelist (senior executives) joins ACHE within 30 days of the chapter-sponsored event, we will provide a full scholarship to cover the first year’s annual membership fee.
- Non-ACHE members will be greeted by Membership Committee members at the event’s membership table. Laptops with Internet service will be available for folks ready to sign up on the night of the event.
In future years, we would like to partner with our sponsors to help us continue the event on an annual basis as a means to growing the chapter and support continuing education for healthcare professionals in our area.
I hope everyone has a very Happy Holiday Season and New Year. I look forward to seeing everyone next year.
Registration is now open for Congress 2013, to be held March 11-14.
The theme is “Changing Healthcare By Design.”
