President's Message
Greetings from your Chapter President

Greetings, THEF Colleagues!

I hope you had a wonderful summer and are beginning to enjoy fall festivities and cooler temperatures.

What a wonderful 'Night at the Museum!' we had on September 12 at the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh. Our time of networking was remarkable! It is always a pleasure to meet new people at these events and catch up with old friends and colleagues. I hope those of you who missed it will join us next time. A special thanks to our event sponsors, Aerotek and Novo Nordisk.

THEF is proud to partner with other healthcare leadership organizations to maximize benefit to our collective members. On September 20, we partnered with the NC Chapter of the National Association of Health Services Executives to present 'The Black Health Forum: Embracing Black Mental Wellness' at UNC-Chapel Hill. Also on that day, the Advancement Committee kicked off the Fall Board of Governors Exam Review Webinar Series in collaboration with the Greater Charlotte Healthcare Executives’ Group.

On September 25, we held our annual Transformational Care Summit at the Rizzo Center in Chapel Hill. The topic was 'Facing a Changing Physician Leadership Landscape'. The summit is THEF’s premier event each year, offering 6 hours of ACHE Face-to-Face credit. Thank you to each of the panelists who shared their time and expertise with us. Thank you also to our event Sponsors, Labcorp and WorkFront. THEF programs would be much less successful without the support of our sponsors.

During the summit, THEF held its annual membership meeting. Members were asked to vote on the following revisions to our Bylaws:

1)    Align the mission and vision to ACHE

2)    Require directors and committee chairs to be current members of THEF

3)    Require all committees to submit a budget within 30 days following the start of the fiscal year

4)    Allow electronic voting for approving future amendments to the bylaws

Votes were cast and the revisions were adopted.

Please mark your calendar and join us on October 18 for a panel discussion on 'Maintaining Resilience in the Face of Industry Disruption' at MacGregor Downs in Cary. Click here to register on EventBrite, or visit the THEF Website for details.

On November 29, we will host a Networking Food Drive at Tobacco Road in Chapel Hill. Details will go out soon via Eventbrite.

As seasoned leaders, it’s important for us to mentor, support, and positively influence our future leaders. I am happy to report that our first annual Mentor Program was quite successful. If you know of someone who might benefit from the mentor program, please encourage them to take advantage of it in 2019.

Each year, ACHE sends a Chapter Member Needs Survey to all members. Thank you to everyone who responded. Your feedback is very important as we begin to plan for 2019. Anyone who has additional ideas or suggestions may share them by emailing me (christa.johnston@duke.edu) or President-Elect, Heather Wargo (hlwargo@gmail.com). We are here to serve and support you, and we appreciate your input.

I look forward to seeing each of you at an upcoming event.

Christa K. Johnston, MBA, FACHE
