A Message from Your THEF President

A message from your THEF President.

Dear THEF Colleagues:

It’s hard to believe it’s already October! This means that THEF Board elections are upon us and I encourage anyone who is still considering contributing to the Board next year to reach out to president-elect Heather Jacobson or me this week. There is no contribution too small, so don’t miss your opportunity to participate on the Board in 2017!

I am encouraged by our chapter’s progress towards our 2016 goals.

Education:

Our September 26th 3rd annual Transformative Care Summit was a success with over 110 people in attendance. Attendees earned 4.5 Face to Face credits, bringing us to 10.5 Face to Face credits so far this year. Our October 20th Senior Executive Networking Breakfast, featuring senior executives from Duke, Rex and WakeMed will bring us to 12 Face to Face credits for the year, which is the max allowed to each chapter by ACHE and also enough to fulfill the Face to Face credit requirement towards advancing to Fellow (FACHE).

FACHE:

Speaking of advancement to Fellow, three chapter members have advanced to FAHCE in 2016. These include myself, Carol Dorn Sanders from Project Data Sphere, LLC., and Dawn Peele, from Carolina East Health System. Congratulations on your accomplishment! A ton of work goes into this, and after years of working towards the requirements to advance, I know I felt a sense of relief walking out of the testing center after completing my last requirement. I’m sure Carol and Dawn did as well! Another 15 members are eligible for advancement but have not yet completed the exam, and still another 140 are eligible to start the application process. Please let us know how we can support you in this process!

Sponsorship:

Our generous sponsors have helped us make exceptional progress towards our sponsorship goals. Thank you LabCorp, Duke MMCi, Medstaff National Medical Staffing, Visantis Healthcare Services, and WakeMed Health and Hospitals. Your contributions are very much appreciated and help us be able to provide high quality educational programming to our members.

Networking and Community Service:

Look for a save the date for an early November networking and charity event soon! These will round out our year and our goals of hosting two of each opportunity this year, in addition to the Face to Face education.

Finally, I highly encourage you to grab a ticket to our last education event of the year- our Senior Executive Networking breakfast. This event is members-only, 1.5 Face to Face credit, and is capped at 40 attendees to facilitate maximum participation and networking. Katie Galbraith, President of Duke Regional, Steve Burriss, President of Rex UNC Healthcare, and Tom Gough, SVP and Administrator of WakeMed Cary will talk to the group about building high performing teams over breakfast at the MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary. A few tickets remain: Register here!

Thank you for your membership. I look forward to seeing you on October 20th or at our November networking and charity event.

Best,

Jessica
