Message from Your ACHE Regent - Summer 2015

Summer 2015 has arrived. Many of us are planning vacations, outdoor activities, gardens, etc. Those are all great thoughts and wonderful visions. Summer in many healthcare organizations bring on activities such as budget preparations, discussions of organizational structure, goals for the upcoming year, etc.

ACHE cannot help us with our personal activities and social/family outings, but ACHE is a great resource for each of us to assist in our professional life. As you are enjoying your summer, I hope you will retake some time to plan for your professional growth and development through the ACHE resources. Plan to attend some of the excellent educational offerings next year.  Offer your services as a volunteer with your local chapter, as they are planning activities for next year. Think about becoming a mentor to new leaders. Connect with the healthcare leader training programs in our 11 affiliated Higher Education Network institutions. If you have not reached Fellow status but you do meet eligibility requirements, register to take the exam.

I encourage each of you to consider making a personal goal to get at least one person to become a member of ACHE or advance to Fellow status. Our industry needs the most highly trained leaders possible. ACHE is the credential that validates that level of education and experience. Thank you in advance for taking these steps.

Enjoy your summer!

Joann Anderson, FACHE
Regent for North Carolina
