Happy (almost) Fall Everyone!
As the unofficial end of summer has passed and temperatures are hopefully cooling down soon, we are busy preparing a Fall lineup of educational opportunities for you that allow you to earn 4.5 more Face-to-Face credits before year end, bringing our total for the year up to 9.0 Face-to-Face credits - the most we have ever offered as a chapter in a single year! I am thrilled that each year for the past three years we have been able to grow the number of educational offerings we provide, allowing you to earn more credits locally on more diverse topics than ever before. I want to take this opportunity to update you on all we have going on for the last 4 months of this year and tell you how you can join us as we plan for 2017!
We have planned two educational offerings for you this month. The first is at the end of this week on September 16. We have partnered with the Health Policy and Management department at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health to offer a Population Health Symposium as part of the department's 80th anniversary celebration. This is a day long event, held at the Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel and includes a panel discussion, breakout sessions, and features Dr. Victor Dzau, President of the National Academy of Medicine, as they keynote speaker. Attendees will earn 1.5 hours of Face-to-Face credit. For more information about the event, click here. The registration link is found on this page. When registering, please select the "Individual-Symposium Only" ticket option. Your registration fee includes breakfast and lunch, along with admittance to the keynote, panel discussion, and breakout sessions.
Our second educational offering this month will take place on Thursday, September 29, and is a panel discussion titled, "Building the Hospital of Tomorrow: Rehabilitate, Renovate, or Replace." The program is being held at the Wesley Long Hospital Education Center. Registration and networking starts at 5:00p. The panel discussion will begin promptly at 6:00pm and will conclude by 7:30pm. Attendees will earn 1.5 ACHE Face-to-Face education credits. For more information or to register, click here. Many thanks to our event partner, Pfeiffer University, for their efforts in planning this event!
If you're looking for even more educational opportunities in September, our sister chapter, Triangle Healthcare Executives Forum (THEF) is hosting their Third Annual Transformative Care Summit in Cary, NC, on Monday, September 26. This is a day long event featuring 3 panel discussions. At the end of the day, attendees will have earned 4.5 Face-to-Face credits. The panel discussions will cover ACOs and CINs in North Carolina, public trust in healthcare, and improving the health status of our communities. If you are interested in learning more about this event or to register, click here.
So what's next after a very busy September? We are committed to providing you with at least one networking event this year. We regretfully had to cancel the event we had scheduled for earlier this month due to the last minute closing of the venue, so we are working to identify a new venue and hope to schedule a networking event in October. Be on the lookout for more details about this as October approaches. And finally, we will end our year with our Annual Business Meeting on Wednesday, November 16. We are busy finalizing the details of this event, which will include a cocktail reception, dinner, and a panel discussion, so mark your calendars and plan to join us on November 16!
As I wrap up this message, I want to thank this year's Board of Directors who has worked tirelessly to plan such a great year. It has been an honor and a pleasure serving with such a great team. At the end of this year, I will be passing the reins to this year's President-Elect, Michelle Bednarek, and I know our board and our chapter is in great hands! If you or someone you know are interested in serving on the Board next year as an officer, committee chair, or committee member, please reach out to me directly (firstname.lastname@example.org). Our nomination period is officially open and will close on November 14, 2016. The 2017 officers will be voted on and installed at our Annual Business Meeting on November 16.
I'm looking forward to a great end of the year and hope to see many of you over the coming months. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with questions or ideas for future events!
