Message from the President

Greetings fellow ACHE of the Triad Members!

Hard to believe we're halfway through 2015 already! And what a busy first six months it has been. We have had two highly successful networking events so far this year - one in Winston-Salem at the Wake Forest Baptist Health Innovation Quarter and one in Greensboro at the Wolfgang Puck Pizza Bar. Both were well attended and provided opportunities for members and non-members to interact.

Hard to believe we're halfway through 2015 already! And what a busy first six months it has been.  We have had two highly successful networking events so far this year - one in Winston-Salem at the Wake Forest Baptist Health Innovation Quarter and one in Greensboro at the Wolfgang Puck Pizza Bar. Both were well attended and provided opportunities for members and non-members to interact. Our board has several goals for these networking events. First, they are a great way for us to connect with non-members and communicate the value of ACHE membership. These events also represent a great way for our members to connect outside the office in a relaxed environment and enjoy getting to know each other better. Thanks to those of you who have attended our networking events this year and we looking forward to seeing you at future events. If you haven't been able to make it yet, we hope you are able to join us in the future.

One of the goals of our board this year is to provide you with opportunities to earn more face-to-face credits. Our Education Committee, chaired by Bridgett Sellars, has been working hard to achieve this goal. We know budgets are tight in your organizations and we want to provide as much education locally and cost-effectively so that you can both gain new information that you can utilize in your organizations as well as use the face-to-face credits toward advancement and/or recertification for your FACHE. We have offered two programs this year, for a total of 4.5 face-to-face credits. Our most recent event, our first Spring Summit, was a partnership with Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro and featured two panel discussions focused on delivering healthcare with the patient in mind. We had around 40 attendees who earned 3.0 Face-to-Face credits for the day. We would like to thank our sponsors for the event, KPMG and Select Specialty Hospital.

Another major goal of ours is to support student scholarship as a means of both recognizing the work of students enrolled in healthcare leadership courses as well as introducing them to ACHE. This is a wonderful means of increasing our visibility, increasing our membership, and adding these students to our board and committees after graduation. To further support this key goal, we are holding our first ACHE of the Triad golf tournament on Friday, September 18 at the Reynolds Park Golf Course in Winston-Salem. Our planning committee for this outing secured this site because it is easily accessible throughout the Triad. We have created two means of participation: golfers and volunteers. The registration fee for golfers is $55 and includes the customary golf outing provisions (and some fun stuff you'll not find in your typical golf tourney) and a $20 donation to the ACHE of the Triad Student Scholarship Fund. For those not interested in golfing, we have many volunteer opportunities available! We are asking that the volunteers also pay a $20 registration fee as a direct donation to the scholarship fund. A huge thanks to Jeannie Wilson and Dave Jenkins who are co-chairing the planning committee!

In closing, I welcome the opportunity to speak with any of you regarding the activities of our chapter, educational programming you would like us to provide, community service opportunities to increase our visibility, and other opportunities that will increase our value to you, the members of ACHE of the Triad.
