Executive Spotlight
Executive Spotlight: Taylor Cannon, MHA
Daniel J. Stoddard, MHA

Taylor Cannon is the Senior Director of Business Development for University of Utah Health. In this role, Taylor is responsible for expanding the University of Utah’s hospital affiliate regional network, identifying opportunities for strategic partnerships, growing and expanding telemedicine, and leading U Health’s physician relations team. Taylor started with the University five years ago and loves coming to work every day to develop access points and mechanisms for patients to receive excellent healthcare how, when, and where they need it. This is accomplished through telemedicine, outreach clinics, and cultivating meaningful partnerships with hospitals, physicians, and employers throughout the University’s large geographic service area.

Taylor began his career in the pharmaceutical industry where he worked for a dermatology and gastroenterology specialty companies for five years. During this time, Taylor worked with physicians, advanced care practitioners, and staff to improve outcomes for their patients by finding solutions to efficacy, cost, and compliance of prescribed drug therapies. He also learned that he wanted to have a greater impact on health care delivery and enrolled in the University of Minnesota’s Executive MHA program. Shortly after his acceptance to Minnesota’s program, he began his time with the University of Utah.

ACHE has been crucial in providing educational resources. For somebody that didn’t go the traditional health system administrator careerist route, the educational tools and classes helped accelerate Taylor’s understanding of operations, leadership, strategy, and policy impacting health care delivery.

Outside of his professional interests, Taylor enjoys spending time with his wife and four kids. He also enjoys competing in endurance events like ironman triathlons, Lotoja, and ultra-marathons. If it involves the outdoors and a little bit of self-inflicted suffering, Taylor is up for it.
