Messages from our Chapter Leaders
From the Regent's Desk
Amanda Choudhary, MHA, MA, FACHE
First and foremost, I want to thank all of the ACHE members in Utah for their work, dedication, leadership, and flexibility during the COVID-19 pandemic. I consider healthcare leaders who are ACHE members, and even more so, those who have committed to maintaining their FACHE credentials as the most dedicated professionals in the field. You all go the extra mile and expend discretionary effort to further the profession, and that is more commendable now than ever!

During this pandemic, an important transition occurred in our state chapter. Normally the handoff to a new state chapter president would garner more attention, but since it happened in March when our industry was stretched thin, we weren’t able to recognize the transition. I want to thank Joshua Spaulding, FACHE, for his leadership of Utah Healthcare Executives. He was a committed, passionate, fun, funny, and outstanding chapter president! Under Josh’s leadership, our state chapter was recognized for several awards from ACHE. Josh has now moved into the Immediate Past President role for the next year.

Please join me in welcoming Rebecca Hunter as the new president of Utah Healthcare Executives. Rebecca has been involved with the UHE Board for several years, ensuring this will be a smooth leadership transition for our chapter. Rebecca is the Vice President of Planning & Service Line Support for HCA’s Mountain Division. As Regent, I work closely with that national ACHE office to represent the needs of our Utah members, and I look forward to working closely with Rebecca as she oversees the affairs and operations of the state chapter.

Our state chapter will have another transition coming up soon, as my term as Regent will come to an end in March 2021. The Regent election process for Utah has recently started. Any members in Utah, who meet the qualifications to serve as a Regent, are welcome to submit a letter of intent to ACHE by August 21. All ACHE members in Utah will have the opportunity to vote for the new Regent in the Fall. For more information, visit ache.org or check out the May 2020 ACHE newsletter. I’m also happy to connect with any of you who are interested in running for Regent and would like more information first.

Lastly, just a note to let you know I’ll be out of the office on maternity leave in July, August and early-September, returning September 15. Please excuse any lack of response to emails during that time. In my absence, if you have questions about national ACHE topics, please contact our Regional Director, Stacey A. Kidd, skidd@ache.org; or if you have questions about state chapter initiatives, please contact our chapter president, Rebecca Hunter.
