President's Message

Kevin Johnson, FACHE
What a wonderful time of year this is. As the weather warms, the snow melts, the trees and flowers begin to bloom, and the world around us is filled with new colors and singing birds, I am once again reminded of why I love working in an industry where we are focused on improving human life.

Dear Healthcare Colleagues:

What a wonderful time of year this is. As the weather warms, the snow melts, the trees and flowers begin to bloom, and the world around us is filled with new colors and singing birds, I am once again reminded of why I love working in an industry where we are focused on improving human life. We are fortunate to be working in healthcare. I hope each of us will continue to commit to better ourselves so that we can continue to add value to the health and wellness of our communities.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “If you would lift me up you must be on higher ground.” One of the ways that we can attain “higher ground” is to continue to pursue opportunities for learning. That is one of the focuses of our local ACHE chapter, to provide many opportunities for learning and improving our knowledge base and skill sets. To this end, we have an active Education Committee that has planned some great education offerings coming up soon.

First, I wanted to remind you all of the upcoming Spring Meeting that UHE is sponsoring jointly with UHA on Thursday and Friday, April 25-26 in St. George. There will be a networking dinner Thursday night and then meetings on Friday morning and early afternoon. We have a breakfast meeting that will qualify for 1.5 hours of ACHE Face-to-Face (formerly Category I) credit and the rest of the education that day will qualify for ACHE Qualified Education credit toward advancement. In addition, on Wednesday, May 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., we will have a panel discussion on the topic, “Care for the Uninsured/Underinsured” at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City. This event will include a free lunch and 1.5 hours of ACHE Face-to-Face credits. We hope you can join us for one or both of these upcoming events to get some in-state, low-cost, continuing education credits.

I want to personally thank those members of our chapter who chair or serve on committees or subcommittees. We appreciate your time and efforts. We continue to create these kinds of opportunities for chapter members, but that could not happen without you who give your time and talents so willingly to plan and carry out the various chapter activities. I hope each of us will find time to get involved in some way to promote our chapter agenda. Enjoy this beautiful change in the weather and let’s keep pursuing the higher ground!
