Message from Your ACHE Regent - Fall 2017

At the Conference, I awarded the annual Regent Awards.  This year, there were 3 awardees – the Early Careerist (Jerome Garrett Jr., FACHE), the Senior-Level (James McLain, FACHE), and the Diversity Champion (Timothy Gaillard, FACHE).  I was very excited to be awarding the Diversity Champion, for the first time.  As diversity and inclusion becomes more woven into the fabric of our organizations, I think it is vitally important to ACHE, ACHE-Wisconsin Chapter, and the Wisconsin Healthcare Administration community to recognize those who are going above and beyond to promote diversity and inclusion in their workplace and in their community.

Along those lines, I encourage everyone to be an advocate for diversity and inclusion in our Wisconsin healthcare organizations and among ACHE.  One way to do this is to encourage ACHE membership to healthcare executives who are not ACHE members, and become active at both the local (via chapters) and national levels.  In this regard, I’d like to challenge each of you to encourage one colleague, with special attention to diversity and inclusion, to become an ACHE member before 2017 ends!

In closing, I hope you had a great summer and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me to discuss your thoughts for how ACHE may advance its members and management excellence in Wisconsin.

Andrew M. Hillig, FACHE
Regent for Wisconsin
