Do you plan to join ACHE of Western PA in 2019 for an education or networking event?

President's Message

It is hard to imagine that the sun is setting on my term as President of ACHE of Western PA.  As usual, the final quarter of the year was filled with events including the Western PA Healthcare Summit which was fantastically successful and an Opioid Crisis education session in our Northern Region.

We held our Annual Event and Chapter Celebration on December 6th at Phipps Conservatory and had a wonderful turn out of almost 60 people.  Our Marketing and Membership Committee led a highly successful clothing drive which benefited Washington City Mission and Dress for Success.  Our keynote speaker Dr. Karen Feinstein of Jewish Healthcare Foundation and Pittsburgh Regional Health Initiative reminded us that we are far from our goals when it comes to patient safety and quality care.  We extend our greatest thanks that she took her time to join us for the evening.  Our Immediate Past President Laura Griffin was recognized with the ACHE Service Award for the time she has donated to the chapter and AJ Harper received the Regent Award which is given to an outstanding healthcare executive in the region.  Also, a great thanks to Healthcare Council of Western PA and Allegheny Health Network for sponsoring this event.

Speaking of sponsorship, all of the events we hosted in 2019 would not have been possible if it were not for our Annual and Event Sponsors.  If you are interested in supporting this chapter so that we can expand our offerings and make education, networking and advancement at an affordable cost, let us know!  Carrie Ennis, our sponsorship chair will be happy to field any questions you may have; you may contact her at ennisc@upmc.edu or 814-877-2009. The 2019 Sponsorship Packet is available HERE.

The chapter has officially increased membership for the third consecutive year, an incredible accomplishment for a professional organization like ours.  We look to finish the year with over 445 members in the Western PA region.  Just a reminder, dues notices have been distributed so please take the steps needed to renew your membership so you can continue to reap the benefits offered by ACHE and the local chapter.

We will be hosting a networking event on January 28th for those interested in getting more involved with the chapter - Register Here.  We'll also be holding an education event on February 25 at Robert Morris University which will include a tour of their simulation lab.  Lastly, Congress registration is open!  Join us in Chicago March 4-7 and mark down the Pennsylvania/NJ Reception which will take place on March 5th at Mercat a La Planxa - registration will be distributed after the holidays.

Thank you for making 2018 such a success - we cannot wait to see what 2019 has in store for us here in Western PA.  We hope you will join us to network, learn and advance in your healthcare leadership career
