President's Message
Dear Colleagues,

I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful summer of the Pacific Northwest and are ready now for the Fall. My husband and I hosted his family for a reunion in Seattle during Seafair weekend. Family came from all over the U.S. and many had not spent time here. They all commented on the beauty of the area and the friendliness of the city—a reminder of how fortunate we are to live in this gorgeous state!

Over the summer, the WSHEF Board took some time to work on our next strategic plan. The Board is comprised of a diverse group of individuals with different backgrounds and career experiences, yet it was evident at that retreat that all share the same desire to work on your behalf to provide beneficial educational and networking opportunities. We have some great offerings this fall and I hope you will plan to attend one or more. In particular, I hope we will see you at the WSHEF Annual Breakfast on October 11, 7:00 a.m. at the Marriott Waterfront-Seattle. This event is conveniently held one morning during the Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA) annual meeting. The topic for our breakfast this year is Disruptive Innovation in Healthcare Delivery (With A Focus on Big Data and Analytics) and will feature keynote/moderator Rod Tarrago, MD (Seattle Children’s) and panelists Dan Low, MD (MDMetrix), Ann Goldman (MultiCare), Bernadette Minton (Providence) and Sri Rajamani (Health Catalyst).

Another exciting development launched by the Board is an organizational champion network. We are working to identify champions at healthcare organizations/regions throughout the state. The role will help to connect with both existing and potential members within their organization and region to keep them informed of WSEHF activities. They will also provide feedback to the Board to make sure we are meeting member needs. If you are interested in participating, please reach out to me or any of the Board members.

Finally, I want to ask you to please consider volunteering with WSHEF. There are numerous ways you can volunteer, long term (serving on a committee) or short term (one event/activity). There is a summary of ideas to consider included in this newsletter. We welcome your involvement and need your input into our events/activities to best meet your needs. Please reach out if you would like more information or have other ideas/opportunities to share.

I hope to see you this Fall at an upcoming event!

Pam
