WSHEF President's Message

It’s summertime, summertime, sum-sum-summertime!  Our warmest months have arrived with a refined sense of collective engagement and focus on health, wellness, and sociability.  The Spring of 2020 will be one of the most memorable times in the healthcare industry, within the walls of our homes and across the streets of America and the World.  The significance and abundance of change has been constant in healthcare yet 2020 has accelerated this to an unprecedented pace.

The WSHEF Board wants to thank all of you who have committed their time, health, and ingenuity to deliver and support healthcare in Washington. The COVID-19 pandemic has required our full attention and has challenged conventional responses and practices.  We hope you all can take the time you need to rest, recover, and to help develop personal and organizational resilience.  Please know that WSHEF will pivot to the best of our ability to provide you all, our members, with the support, resources, and education when needed and in an accessible format.

In parallel to the monumental shift towards telemedicine we are rapidly reinventing events that have historically been in person, face-to-face.  As we continue to pivot towards virtual networking and educational opportunities, we will share the logistics on our Events and Programs and Programs page.  ACHE has led this shift by initiating the COVID-19 Series with Front Line Leaders, each of which is eligible for Qualified Education Credits and can be accessed at ACHE’s new COVID-19 Resource Center.

WSHEF’s 2020 events in the making:

·      Meet and Mingle; Monthly virtual networking

·      WSHEF’s Annual Breakfast; “Restoring Consumer Confidence” Panel Discussion to be held on October 7, 2020.

·      Legislative Update; Latest information on WA State and Federal policy.

·      Fireside Chat; Leadership Resilience and Resourcefulness

1st Virtual Meet and Mingle; May 2020

Finally, I would like to recognize the tireless efforts made by Andrea Turner over the past 3 years.  By serving on ACHE’s Council of Regents, Andrea has been able to effectively provide advice and counsel to ACHE’s Board of Governors while providing our voice in electing the Board of Governors and its Chairman.  Andrea has crisscrossed the state as our Regent, meeting with students, academicians, providers, Legislators and of course, our diverse membership.  In March, Andrea transitioned the role of Regent to Karin Larson-Pollock, MD, FACHE.  In absence of this year’s Congress and the traditional invocation of the Regents, we simultaneously recognize Andrea for past successes and welcome Karin to future successes. Kudos to you both for your commitment to healthcare in Washington!
