Champions Network and Chapter Innovation Grant

The WSHEF board has set as its top priority for 2019 the development of a Champions Network and implementation of a grant to support early careerists with leadership development and networking events. The Champions Network, spearheaded by Karin Larson-Pollock and Brooke Stegmeier, is a group of volunteers from healthcare organizations across the state who serve as liaisons between the chapter and their organization to mentor early careerists and provide input on WSHEF’s programming. Our inaugural class of Champions includes the following:

Stephanie Williams, Executive Director, Ancillary Services, Kadlec Regional Medical Center

Christopher P. Hall, MD, St. Mary Medical Center - Providence

Robert Watilo, St. Mary Medical Center - Providence

Don Wee, Chief Executive Officer, Tri-State Memorial Hospital

Brittany McCreery, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance

Aimee O’Neill, Seattle Children's

Russ Woolley, COO, CHI Franciscan - Highline

Michael J. Davis, FACHE, VP of Practice Management, Polyclinic

Vandna Chaudhari, FACHE, Administrator Population Health Management, UWMC

Tim Reed, Virginia Mason Medical Center

Zach Griffin, FACHE, Senior Director Telehealth, Providence Health - Downtown

Sherry Stoll, Director, Specialty Clinics, Providence Medical Group

Sheridah Lemmon, The Everett Clinic

Bret McManus, Kadlec Regional Medical Center

David J. McKay, FACHE, St. Mary Medical Center - Providence

Michael Myint, MD, VP Quality & Patient Safety, Swedish First Hill

Taylor B. Rose, Assistant Administrator, Multicare Covington Hospital

Under Brian Barry’s leadership, WSHEF applied for and received a 2019 Chapter Innovation Grant from ACHE to support the professional development of early careerists. Through our Champions Network, we are identifying a group of early careerists to participate in a year-long educational and networking program that will include an emotional intelligence assessment.

Upcoming Events

The WSHEF Programs Committee, chaired by Nick Malos, has a full calendar of events planned for 2019. On April 3, there will be a face-to-face educational offering entitled Population Health Management: Justice, Access and Financial Implications. The program will take place at the University of Washington Magnuson Center from 6-8pm. Please plan to attend!

Get Involved

If you have been looking for opportunities to meet other healthcare executives or get more involved in chapter activities, we are looking for volunteers to help with our Program Committee, Membership & Advancement Committee, and Communication Committee. This could include helping out with one upcoming event or activity, or a commitment to join the committee long term. Please let me know if you are interested and we can connect with you for a brief conversation about opportunities.

I look forward to connecting with you at our events and hearing from you. Please feel free to send me an email if you have questions about WSHEF or have ideas on how we can better engage with our members. You can contact me at

Happy Spring!

Lori Nomura
