Shannon Davis is the Learning and Development Lead for Marek Brothers Systems, Inc., a commercial drywall subcontractor located in Houston, Texas.  Shannon’s main priorities in this position are to determine Marek’s business needs through consulting and research, connecting with their customers to implement solutions.  Prior to starting her career in commercial construction, she taught middle school for two years and worked in the oil and gas industry as an IT Training Coordinator at Ref-Chem.  Read More

Immigration Reform Remains on Congressional Forefront
AGC Weighs in on Construction Workforce Needs
On June 21, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on a legislative proposal to reform the nation’s immigration laws. Prior to the vote, AGC opposed the Securing America’s Future Act because it limited legal immigration and failed to address the construction industry’s workforce shortage. The bill ultimately failed by a vote of 193 to 231 with 41 Republicans joining every Democrat in opposition. Read More

AGC Houston Construction Leadership Council Rebuilds Home and Hope
Although the heat index was sweltering, 30 young professionals (including members of the AGC Houston staff) came together on Saturday, May 19 in Houston’s Fifth Ward for the first Construction Leadership Council Day of Service with Rebuilding Together Houston.  In Houston, Rebuilding Together provides free repair and renovation programs for elderly low-income, disabled and service-veteran homeowners in need.
