Clean Water America Urges You to 'Tell A Friend'
There are many lessons to be learned from the recent tragedy in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. From our perspective at Clean Water America (CWA), one critical lesson, however, is that we cannot continue to under-value our water and wastewater infrastructure. It is well documented that America's clean water infrastructure prevents billions of tons of pollutants each year from reaching our rivers, lakes, streams, and drinking water. The public health and economic consequences of continuing to take an "out of sight - out of mind" attitude to this vital infrastructure sector are considerable.
Clean and safe water is a right not a privilege. Yet the federal government continues to slash funding for national clean water programs. Sadly, disasters such as Hurricane Katrina serve to remind us just how important clean water is in our daily lives, and underscore the need for clean and safe water in every community, for every American. We thank you for signing the Clean Water America pledge and urge you to forward this e-mail to your friends and contacts so that they too can get involved in guaranteeing clean and safe water for our families and future generations. ('Tell A Friend')
