WESTON SPEAKS OUT ON EQUITY IN ONE-CALL ENFORCEMENT
AGC National Treasurer Vic Weston addressed a meeting of the US DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Technical Pipeline Safety Standards Advisory Committee in Washington, DC on December 13th.

The committee is tasked with making recommendations to the US DOT on legislative and/or regulatory changes to enhance outside force damage prevention of gas pipeline distribution systems.  In addition to being a utility contractor, Weston serves as the AGC representative on the Common Ground Alliance  (CGA) Board of Directors.  The CGA is a non-profit coalition of stakeholders to the one-call process.  AGC is the sole construction industry sponsor of the CGA.  The question of enforcement was the topic and Weston asserted that contractors have no issue with strong enforcement as long as it is equally applied to all parties in the one-call process, the owner/operator, the locator and the contractor.  [ return to top ]
