AGC-Backed Trust Fund Study Goes to GAO

House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Jim Oberstar has formally requested a Clean Water Trust Fund Study be conducted by the Government Accountability Office.  The Trust Fund Study contained in this request is based upon the study AGC, in concert with our coalition partners, the Water Infrastructure Network worked to have included in infrastructure funding legislation passed by the House last year.

Awaiting action in the Senate, HR 720, the Water Quality Financing Act calls for 14 billion dollars over four years for the Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund. AGC hopes that this study will come up with a fair, broad-based mix of potential funding. Identifying funding sources is a key component to moving forward with the creation of a long-term sustainable source of dollars for this critical need which has been estimated at between 300 and 500 billion dollars over the next twenty years.  [ return to top ]
