Defense Department Announces Major Changes for Army Corps of Engineers
Civil Works Chief to be Next Chief of Engineers
Maj. Gen. Carl A. Strock has been nominated by President Bush to be the 51st Chief of Engineers, with an appointment to the grade of Lieutenant General. The U.S. Senate must first confirm the nomination.
The Change of Command ceremony to take place approximately July 1, 2004. MG Strock currently serves as the Director of Civil Works and recently returned from Iraq, where he did outstanding work as the Deputy Director of Operations for the Coalition Provisional Authority. His other USACE assignments include serving as the Director of Military Programs and Commander of the Pacific Ocean and Northwestern Divisions.
MG Strock has been a strong supporter of AGC, having attended and spoken at sereral recent AGC National Meeting and events over the past few years. AGC looks forward to working with MG Strock in his forthcoming position as Chief of Engineers.
The Defense Department also announced additional General Officer Assignments for Corps officers this week.

Brig. Gen. Randal R. Castro, Commanding General, United States Army Engineer Division, South Atlantic, Atlanta, Georgia, to Commanding General, United States Army Maneuver Support Center and Fort Leonard Wood/Commandant, United States Army Engineer School, Fort Leonard Wood,Missouri.
Brig. Gen. Robert Crear, Commanding General, United States Army Engineer Division, Southwestern, Dallas, Texas, to Commanding General, United States Army Engineer Division, Mississippi Valley, Vicksburg, Mississippi.
