  AGC Works for WRDA Reauthorization
AGC Hopeful for Bill's Passage during Lame Duck Session
Senate negotiators failed to get a final agreement on passage of the 2004 Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), before the end of session this past weekend. However, final action on the bill is still in play.

The Senate version of the measure would authorize about $8 billion in hundreds of navigation and flood control projects undertaken by the Army Corps of Engineers, while the House bill authorizes about $4.6 billion in projects. The bill has now been targeted for inclusion in the forthcoming Omnibus appropriations bill that will be considered during the lame duck session taking place after the November elections.

AGC has been working with both Senate and House negotiators to gain strong support for the bill. Now we must focus on both Senate and House members to garner support for inclusion of WRDA in the Omnibus. It is critical that AGC members contact their respective Senators and Representatives via the AGC Legislative Action Center by visiting the Web site and clicking on "WRDA Reauthorization." You are also encouraged to ask your Senators and House Representative to pursue inclusion of the WRDA Reauthorization in the Omnibus Appropriations bill before Congress adjourns for the year.
