AGC Urges Senate to Schedule WRDA Vote
AGC and our industry partners have renewed efforts to urge the Senate to place the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) on the Senate Calendar for 2006.

This important legislation authorizes billions of dollars in U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects for navigation, flood control, environmental restoration and hydroelectric power. Although the House took swift action on its $10 billion reauthorization of the measure and overwhelmingly passed H.R. 2864 during the first session of the 109th Congress, Senate leadership has failed to schedule a vote for floor consideration despite being unanimously reported from the Environment and Public Works Committee in April 2005.

This legislation includes vital authorizations that affect the safety and economic well– being of this nation, and the Congress’ failure to pass this comprehensive legislation since 2000 has contributed to declining infrastructure such as levees and dams.

AGC will continue to focus its efforts urging Senate leaders to allow consideration of the bill by the full Senate.

Click here to take action by contacting your Senators through the AGC’s Legislative Action Center.
