Mark Kessenich Named Chief Executive Officer of AGC

We're very excited to share that after a lengthy and thorough senior executive search the AGC of Greater Milwaukee Board of Directors has appointed Mark Kessenich to serve as the new Chief Executive Officer of the association

Mr. Kessenich has a vast knowledge and familiarity with the commercial construction industry having served for the past six years as the President and CEO of the Wisconsin Regional Training Partnership/BIG STEP (WRTP/BIG STEP).  During the most recent months, he briefly interrupted his tenure at that organization to serve as the Interim President and CEO of Employ Milwaukee—Milwaukee County’s Workforce Development Organization.  Due to an unexpected leadership departure at Employ Milwaukee, Tom Barret (City of Milwaukee Mayor) appointed Mark to assume this position until they could identify a replacement.

Mark has extensive experience in workforce development, organizational management, strategic planning, financial management, public affairs as well as marketing & public relations.  Additionally, given his position as the President/CEO of the WRTP/BIG STEP Mark has insider knowledge of the various leaders and operations of the construction trade associations and unions that populate our industry.

After wrapping up his activities with the WRTP/BIG STEP we anticipate that he will be onboard at the AGC-GM by mid-June.

A special thank you to the AGC Board of Directors and all AGC Members for their continued support during this transition period!

Many are now working in remote environments with traditional processes completely upended, including their labor compliance procedures. And since this process typically requires in-person, collaborative effort among multiple parties, contractors are now finding creative ways to accomplish their labor compliance tasks in a safe and “contactless” way. This webinar will take a deep dive into the challenges top contractors are facing and present practical tips on how to navigate this new “normal”.

Couture Lakefront Tower Could be Moving Forward this Summer, According to Milwaukee Officials
City of Milwaukee officials anticipated a late June breakthrough for the long-delayed $122 million Couture apartment tower at the downtown Milwaukee lakefront, pledging “very positive news” at that time.

The 44-story building has been stalled for years as Barrett Lo Visionary Development seeks investors to finance its construction. Officials from Milwaukee’s departments of public works and city development on Wednesday promised aldermen some movement around the end of June.

“We’re still optimistic and we believe the project will still move forward, and at a time when so many different cities are seeing their projects stall,” said Lori Lutzka, development projects manager in the Department of City Development. “We’re still seeing momentum, and we believe that come late June we’re going to have an announcement.”

That came in response to downtown Ald. Robert Bauman’s insistence that the city should pursue alternate plans for the public streetcar station that would be located...Read full article here.

AGC Coronavirus Resources

During these unprecedented and ever-changing times, AGC of Greater Milwaukee is working to ensure you are prepared with the latest information and resources related to COVID-19. We are working around the clock to keep you and your teams safe and supported.

What is COVID-19?

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common in people and many different species of animals, including camels, cattle, cats, and bats. Rarely, animal coronaviruses can infect people and then spread between people such as with MERS-CoV(link is external), SARS-CoV(link is external), and now with this new virus (named SARS-CoV-2). The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading from person-to-person in China and some limited person-to-person transmission has been reported in countries outside China, including the United States. However, respiratory illnesses like seasonal flu, are currently widespread in many US communities.

Symptoms of COVID-19

Reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death for confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.

Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure*:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

*This is based on what has been seen previously as the incubation period of MERS-CoV viruses.

Call your healthcare professional if you develop symptoms, and have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 or if you have recently traveled from an area with widespread or onging community spread of COVID-19.

What Should Employers Do?
