Meet New Operating Engineers President at AGC Convention
Vincent J. Giblin will speak at the Union Contractors Committee meeting during AGC’s 2005 Annual Convention just two weeks after becoming the general president of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE). The meeting will be held on March 15 at 1:30 p.m. and is open to all Convention registrants.

Giblin is taking over the IUOE’s top position following Frank Hanley’s retirement on March 1.  Giblin currently serves as the general secretary-treasurer, the union’s second-highest position.  He joined IUOE Local 68 in New Jersey in 1964 and has served as the local’s business manager since 1975.  He was elected an international vice president in 1989 and held that position until his election to general secretary-treasurer in 2002.  He also serves as president of the Northeast Conference of Operating Engineers and chairs the IUOE Stationary Committee.
