AGC's Workforce Development Committee to meet in San Diego, January 15-16

The AGC of America Workforce Development Committee plans its next meeting for January 15-16 at the Rancho Bernado Inn, San Diego. The regular committee meeting will be preceded by a half-day AGC Subgrantees Subcommittee meeting, which focuses on the 10 AGC-supported construction career academies nationwide. The committee also plans a joint session with the AGC Construction Education Committee on the afternoon of January 16.

All AGC chapter staff and members are invited to attend these meetings. AGC is currently working on several high-profile workforce development initiatives, including:

  • partnership with the Yellow Ribbon Fund, Inc. to connect injured
          American veterans with construction careers once they are back
          home
  • connecting chapter-sponsored construction career academies with
          private grant opportunities
  • selling Build Up! kits in bulk to other construction industry
          associations
  • developing a video press release, to be distributed nationwide, to
          highlight the critical worker shortage in our growing, high-paying
          industry.

    AGC members who would like to formally join the committee are asked to have the executive of their home chapter send a letter to AGC of America requesting formal membership. The letters should be addressed to President Steve Massie and sent to:
