The Polls Are Closed, And The Results Are In

The AICP National Board elections recently concluded, as did those for the East, West and Digital Boards.   There were two General Member At Large Seats and two Associate Member At Large seats open on the National Board.  As members may recall, two years ago the governance of the organization underwent a major restructuring.  Each Chapter selects a Regional Representative to the Board, and there are now seven  representatives (five General Members and two Associate Members) who fill "at large seats, " which are directly elected by the full membership.  Currently, three of the seats held by General members are midterm,  with two up for election this year, along with both Associate seats. Winning the General Member seats are:  Robert Fernandez of Moxie Pictures, and Frank Scherma of @radical.media; each will serve a two-year term.  On the Associate front, Scott Taylor of Taylor & Taylor will serve a two-year term, and Stephen Bernstein of Panavision will serve a one-year term.

The Business of Production
Tax Credit "Sharing"
Several members have contacted the AICP recently regarding an increasing variety of requests by agencies and clients to redirect a portion or all of a state’s tax incentive credit or rebate earned by production. Some clients are making compliance to this request a prerequisite to a company bidding on a project. To this end, cost consulting companies have been actively advising clients to request that production companies film in states with tax incentives –  whether or not the production company believes that the location or the negotiated budget are proper for the locale.

Life in the Fast Lane: Global Entry Program Promotion

Have you every arrived at the Immigration Hall of a major airport just to realize that you aren't as close to home as you thought you were? You walk that country mile from your arrival gate and turn the corner— just to see a massive zig-zag line to get your passport stamped.  Then, insult to injury, you see some guy with his roll-a-board zip down a lane, pop his passport into an ATM-like kiosk, push a few buttons, and off he goes!  You say to yourself: Who is this guy? And more importantly, how did he do that?
